Before you login to your online course, please make sure you are ready to use the ETUDES system by following the steps below
1. check the systems requirements
2. change the time in Etudes to your time zone
3. make sure you can see PowerPoint Presentations and Acrobat PDF documents
4. make sure ETUDES has your current email
You might have noticed the "system requirements" link in the left column of the ETUDES gateway page. If you overlooked it, click it now and follow the instructions for configuring your computer (PC or Mac).
Please go through all the instructions carefully. You'll have to follow the links to see everything. Following these instructions will not harm your computer. Failing to do so may keep you from participating successfully in your online class.
Configuring your computer properly is critical for any work you do in the ETUDES system.
All the times and dates referred to are local Los Angeles time (Pacific Time) . If you are not on the US west coast, it is recommended that you set ETUDES to show your own local time. The due dates in Tests, Tasks and Surveys and the time of posted announcements will be shown in your own local time. Not everything will be translated into your time zone. Regular text on a page like this one is not changed.
To set ETUDES to your time zone:
1. In the tabs at the top of the page, click "My Workspace"
2. Click "Preferences"
3. Click "Time Zone"
4. in the menu, find your time zone and click on it (This online map from http://www.timezonecheck.com may help you locate your time zone.)
5. Click the update button.
You'll have to click on the course tab to get back here.
This course includes PowerPoint presentations and documents saved as Adobe Acrobat Reader Files (PDF). If you don't have PowerPoint, there is a free viewer you can download and install. Acrobat Reader is also free to download and install. They are free and won't hurt your computer.
Free PowerPoint Viewer - If you do not already have PowerPoint installed on your computer, download the free PowerPoint viewer online.
Viewing PowerPoint files - When you click on a PowerPoint file within your course, you may be prompted "Do you want to open or save this file?", click "Open" to access the presentation. Make sure that you do not have any pop-up blocking software that may interfere with your viewing the slideshows. Click anywhere on the current slide to advance to the next one.
Free Acrobat Reader - download and install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader program.
You'll see the most recent announcements on the homepage of your course, but some announcements are also sent to your email account. For this treason, ETUDES requires a current email address for you. To check your listed email address:
